DESCRIPTION:Earth Day – 22 April 2026\nEarth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. First held on April 22\, 1970\, it now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally through earthday.org (formerly Earth Day Network) including 1 billion people in more than 193 countries. \nSignificance of April 22nd\nNelson chose the date to maximize participation on college campuses for what he conceived as an “environmental teach-in”. He determined the week of April 19–25 was the best bet as it did not fall during exams or spring breaks. Moreover\, it did not conflict with religious holidays such as Easter or Passover\, and was late enough in spring to have decent weather. More students were likely to be in class\, and there would be less competition with other mid-week events – so he chose Wednesday\, April 22. The day also fell after the anniversary of the birth of noted conservationist John Muir.

DESCRIPTION:Charitable Fundraising Concert (2021)\nScarborough Library (North Yorkshire) \nThe Rainbow Centre was established in 1997 to offer practical support to vulnerable people in the local community. Since then\, we have grown and offer an open door to anyone in need of help with any issues they are facing\, offering compassion\, support and hope. \nEach year we make around 12\,500 critical interventions\, offering assistance to vulnerable people during their difficult circumstances and beyond. \nWe are a small team of dedicated staff and volunteers who believe in fairness and equality and we are very grateful for the support of the community in helping us to continue to provide our many services and facilities. \nThis support can provide assistance such as an emergency food parcel\, a hot meal in our community cafe\, access to shower and laundry facilities\, clean clothing\, bedding and other household essentials. We believe people should have access to the most basic of needs.
